From time to time Broughty Ferry Baptist Church offers a selection of educational, informative and practical courses designed to help people learn more about God, who Jesus Christ was, and to bring guidance to daily living.

In addition we also run some social activities for the church family and local community

An insight into some of the groups & courses either being run now or have run in the past is provided on this page. If you would like to learn more about these or some of the other courses we run, please do not hesitate to Contact Us.

Bible Studies - There are several weekly Bible Study groups running at different times in various homes around Broughty Ferry and Carnoustie. There will be one near you which you can come along to.

Marriage Course - The Marriage Course is a seven week course which aims to help couples enrich their married life. It looks at several key areas eg making time for each other, how to resolve disagreements, the importance of good communication, the importance of a good sex life and how to deal with the in-laws. It’s aimed at those who have been married only a few years as well as those who have been together for a much longer time. To go on the course is not an admission that your marriage is in trouble, but that you would value the opportunity to talk through with your partner how your relationship is doing. Marriage is an important part of many peoples’ lives but they often do not find the time just to sit down and talk about it. The Marriage Course helps people to do that. Each session lasts about two hours. There is never any group work and you will never be asked to share anything about your relationship with anyone other than your partner.

Christianity Explored - The church runs this popular course from time to time. The course, geared more for adults is free, you won't be asked to sing or read out loud and you can ask any questions you like about Christianity. Please contact us for details or come along on the night - all welcome, you don't need to be a member.

Care Homes Ministry - A group of people from the church have been going to 4 local nursing homes over the past 5 years. This is not entertainment. This is an outreach into the community, covering up to 100 older people every month (and sometimes the care assistants join in and hear the gospel too). The spiritual care of the elderly is very important. Many of them are very lonely and are so glad when we come to visit them and take an interest in them. We bring them the word of God, pray with them and find it a blessing to preach the good news of the gospel to them. We are very privileged to be able to minister freely in these homes and have the support of the management teams there. Many of the residents have accepted the Lord into their lives and have since gone home to the lord.

Music Group - The church's praise band play most Sunday mornings and meet most Friday evenings to practice for services, and to have a general play of other songs which come into their heads; new members are always warmly welcome. You don't need to be a band member or singer to attend these relaxed times of fun and fellowship - all welcome.

Prayer Breakfast - Each Saturday morning, men from the church family get together for a valuable time of prayer and fellowship. The meetings (in the church lounge), start at 8:30am with tea and toast and time for a chat. This is followed by a time of prayer. This ministry is a great encouragement to all who attend and it is marvelous to look back and see how the Lord has already answered many of the prayers offered up at these meetings. The meetings are usually finished by 9:30am.

Mission Matters - The Missionary Core Group was formed with the aim of increasing awareness and generating interest in all aspects of World mission within the church fellowship. As well as following developments within BMS World Mission, the Baptist Church's own missionary organisation, the members meet every three months or so to share their interest in Mission work in general or news from a specific organisation with which they have an association e.g. Leprosy Mission, Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) or Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF). Any relevant items of information are included in the group's article, " Mission Matters " in the monthly church magazine. News and prayer letters from missionaries with personal connections to the fellowship e.g. the Heron family with SIM in Peru can also be found in the magazine or on the dedicated Missions section of the notice board in the church hall.

"C3" Coffee, Cake & Chat - Each Monday at 1.30pm to 3.30pm within Panmurefield Baptist Centre. Pop in to meet with friends and have a chat over coffee (or tea) and some cake if you like.

All of our paid employees and volunteers have undertaken a PVG Disclosure check.
